Good for Thee, Not for Me....

Last Thursday, the President and 1st Lady hosted a conference at the White House on Bullying Prevention, because as we all know, that is the crisis most concerning Americans today and, of course, very much in need of Federal intervention. I presume since Mr. Present can't lead on Egypt, Libya, oil crisis, budget, etc., he picked a subject within his area of expertise.Well, at least he thought he had until Michelle clarified the topic was bully PREVENTION, not bullying.

In the speech , Obama commented he was bullied as a student for his large ears. Really? As usual with this Presidunce, everything has to be fact checked because we know the 3-letter networks certainly won't do any homework. What did we learn--on August 14, 2009, he denied being bullied as a youth, read here. So which is it?

Let us take a brief look of some of his comments over the past few years and you decide who the bully is:

Obama on countering Republican criticism: "If They Bring a Knife to the Fight, We Bring a Gun" June 2008

Obama on the campaign trail: “I want you to argue with them and get in their face” September 2008

Obama on ACORN Mobs: “I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I’m angry!”
March 2010

Obama on the BP Gulf oil spill: “We will talk to these folks… so I know whose ass to kick." June 2010

Obama to Hispanics regarding immigration reform: "We’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us" October 2010

Obama on mid-term elections: “A Republican majority in Congress would mean “hand-to-hand combat” on Capitol Hill for the next two years, threatening policies Democrats have enacted to stabilize the economy" Novemeber 2010

Obama on keeping taxes from increasing: “I think it’s tempting not to negotiate with hostage takers (Republicans), unless the hostage gets harmed. In this case the hostage is the American people and I was not willing to see them get harmed"  December, 2010

So, yes, let's spend all day at a conference lecturing a grand total of 100 attendees to hear this earth-shattering advice: "No family should have to go through what these families have gone through. No child should feel that alone. If there’s one goal of this conference, it’s to dispel the myth that bullying is just a harmless rite of passage or an inevitable part of growing up. It’s not.", President Obama. And from his wife, more revolutionary wisdom: "I urge adults to set an example by treating others with compassion and respect, and giving each other the benefit of the doubt." PROBLEM SOLVED AMERICA, WOOT!

Of course, by conference end, as the President sat on his hands, Saudi Arabian leaders fired upon street protesters and Libya's derelict readied an air strike that could slaughter hundreds, but no bullying there--right, RIGHT?
